Late surge not enough

Late surge not enough.

Hull U14’s leave it a little too late.

We didn’t have the best of starts, an injury on the way to football from one of the boys. Thankfully, he’s okay with just a sore wrist.. careful on those bikes!

Another day with players in unfamiliar positions. More players injured. Just can’t buy a break right now.

Immediately, the boys were on the back foot – quickly going 2-0 down within 15 minutes. These boys aren’t used to losing. When they concede, heads drop. Something that will improve as the season progresses. A further 2 goals from Bradford before halftime made the task ahead look impossible.

Half time team talk, the boys stepped forward and apologized for their mistakes. It’s fine! Mistakes are lessons learned. How do you develop if mistakes aren’t made? A couple of half time changes, the boys went out eager to make amends.

The 2nd half saw a much improved Hull performance. Despite conceding another goal soon after kickoff making it 5-0. Hull responded well. M. Bellis making his league debut got the first goal for Hull. As always, it inspired the boys. Hull became energized.

Bradford did score a well worked goal 5 minutes later, making the score 6-1. Hull didn’t give up though, they were playing good football. On top for parts.

Hull with a freekick on the edge of the area, M Bellis steps up – lifts it into the top left hand corner. 6-2. That’s his second goal of the game. Although Bradford had a 4 goal cushion, Hull believed they could claw it back. Less than a minute after the last Hull goal. Hull score again, a nice pass across goal from Jalloh sees Mainprize tap in from close range. 6-3.

Sadly, the surge came a little too late, time on the clock ran out. 2 very different halves of football.

A good game with plenty of action. Well played Bradford!

Lots of positives to take away from this game. Away to Leeds next week!

Both teams enjoyed pizza, sausage, and chips at Pearsons Bar. Thanks Jimmy!

Thanks to Pete at PBS Construction for sponsoring our kits. It was great to see you down at the game today.
